The Original Rebellious Ager, Diane Keaton

    By Suzanne

I am sure we are all in agreement that we have lots to learn from this fabulous lady. She was definitely a woman who made being YOURSELF a fashion superpower. I have wondered what we could learn from her.

There are fashion icons a plenty and there is Diane Keaton, absolutely a category of 1.

In my mind she remains the queen of personal style: hats, tailored menswear, wide belts, turtlenecks, dramatic coats and unmistakable black and white confidence. She did not follow fashion. Nope, for me she was fashion. She appeared unafraid to show up exactly as she wanted to be seen. UNAPOLOGETICALLY!

Your style becomes iconic the moment you stop asking permission.

    Noteworthy:

    • Diane's consistent menswear inspired look was not repetition, it was self-definition. She turned her personal uniform into a power statement. She found her lane and claimed it. Consistency creates confidence.
    • She used accessories like exclamation points. Hats, oversized glasses, bold oversized belts, quirky shoes. Accessories are not after thoughts, they are punctuation. They say, I know who I am.
    • She knew the power of tailoring. She wore clothes that fit with intention. Tailoring elevates everything, and she was great at honoring her shape, without relying on trends.
    • Age is not a style expiration date. Her incredible style only sharpened with age. She dressed for creativity not chronology.
    • Diane dressed in collaboration with herself. She said, "Style is about choices you make to express yourself". Her clothes are expressions not costumes.
    • She brought humor and humanity into fashion. Her playful approach reminds us that fashion should be fun. When you smile while dressing, know it is a sign you have chosen well.

Lessons learned from the fabulous Diane Keaton

    • Own your own signature style. In fact, rock it.
    • Repeat outfits proudly.
    • Accessorize with intention.
    • Let your personality lead.
    • Choose tailoring over trends.
    • NEVER, apologize for standing out.

Diane Keaton showed us that style does not fade with age, personality strengthens it.

I am convinced that fashion is the visible expression of your inner rebellion. So whether your style is classic, colorful, boho, elegant, minimalist, dramatic, or whimsical take a page from Diane. Wear it fully. Wear it freely. WEAR IT FABULOUSLY.

    Hugs,

    Suz xo
